PROFILE
Alfred Lawrence Toombs has
been in the private practice of law for over 40 years, and has a wide range
of experience in commercial law, litigation, real estate and bankruptcy.
Mr. Toombs is a
graduate of the University of Virginia and the Harvard
Law School
and is a member of the Bars of New York, the District
of Columbia and Maryland.
His legal career began
in New York City
in 1961 as an associate of a major Wall Street firm. After moving to Washington, D.C.
in 1976, he became a partner in a national law firm. He opened his own firm
in 1983.
Mr. Toombs has
conducted all aspects of sophisticated federal and state litigation. He has
practiced before courts and administrative agencies throughout the country,
frequently representing clients in an adverse position to many of the
nation’s largest law firms.
Bankruptcy and
Related Litigation
For over fifteen years,
Mr. Toombs has specialized in bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation
in the Metropolitan Washington area. He has represented financial
institutions, corporations and individuals, and his clients have included
both debtors and creditors. He has represented numerous credit unions in
situations where a member has filed bankruptcy, and also in related
collection matters. On behalf of his clients, he has litigated objections
to discharge ability, objections to confirmation, motions to dismiss, lift
stay motions, foreclosures and replevin proceedings.
